フランス人が日本に来て最初に驚くことの一つは、公共交通機関の時間の正確さです。
One of the first things many French people notice in Japan is how punctual public transportation is.
フランスでは、電車やバス、地下鉄の遅延や運休は日常的によくあります。そのため、遅刻しないように早めに家を出る人も少なくありません。
In France, delays and disruptions are part of everyday life. Whether it is a train, a bus, or the metro, it is not unusual for public transportation to be delayed or even cancelled. As a result, many people leave home earlier than necessary to avoid arriving late.
一方、日本は、公共交通機関は時間の正確さで知られています。1分ほどの遅れでもアナウンスがあり、鉄道会社がお客様にお詫びをすることもあります。
Public transportation is known for its punctuality. Even a delay of only one minute may be announced, and railway companies often apologize to passengers for any inconvenience.

一方、日本では、静かに過ごす人が多いです。電話は控えることが一般的で、本を読んだり、イヤホンで音楽を聞いたり、休んだりして過ごす人をよく見かけます。周りの人に迷惑をかけないようにすることが大切だと考えられています。
In Japan, passengers are generally quieter. Phone calls are usually avoided, and many people spend their time reading, listening to music with headphones, or simply resting. Respecting the comfort of other passengers is considered important.
