Shoes / 靴
Taking off your shoes before entering a home is a normal part of daily life in Japan. It helps keep the house clean, and guests are often offered slippers.
日本では、家に入る前に靴を脱ぐことが一般的です。家の中をきれいに保つためで、お客様にはスリッパが用意されていることもよくあります。
In France, homes usually do not have a genkan. Some families take off their shoes, while others keep them on. It simply depends on the household.
フランスには日本のような玄関はありません。家で靴を脱ぐ人もいますが、そのまま過ごす人もいます。
家庭によって習慣はさまざまです。
Home Size / 住まいの広さ
French homes are generally larger than Japanese homes. Living rooms, kitchens, and bedrooms often offer more space, even in cities.
フランスでは、日本より広い家やアパートが多く見られます。都市部でも、リビングやキッチン、寝室にゆとりがあることが多いです。
In Japan, especially in large cities, homes are usually more compact. Furniture and storage are often designed to make the best use of the available space.
日本では、特に都市部ではコンパクトな住まいが多く見られます。そのため、家具や収納にはスペースを有効に使うための工夫がされています。
Heating / 暖房
Central heating is common in France. During winter, the entire home is usually kept warm, making every room comfortable.
フランスでは、セントラルヒーティングが一般的です。冬になると家全体が暖かくなり、どの部屋でも快適に過ごせます。
Many homes also have a fireplace. While it is sometimes used for decoration, many families still use it as an additional source of heat during the winter.
また、多くの家には暖炉があります。飾りとして残っているものもありますが、冬には暖房として使われている家庭も少なくありません。
In Japan, many homes use air conditioners or space heaters to heat individual rooms. It is common to heat only the room that is being used.
日本では、エアコンや暖房器具を使って部屋ごとに暖めることが多く、使っている部屋だけを暖める家庭もよくあります。
