Garden / 庭
Many French houses have a garden, especially outside large cities.
フランスでは、特に大都市の外では庭のある家が多く見られます。
Gardens are often used to relax, grow flowers or vegetables, and spend time with family and friends. During the summer, having a barbecue in the garden is also a popular activity.
庭では、花や野菜を育てたり、家族や友人とゆっくり過ごしたりします。夏には、庭でバーベキューを楽しむ家庭も多くあります。
In Japan, houses in large cities usually have much smaller gardens, and many apartments do not have one at all. However, many people enjoy growing flowers or plants on their balcony or in a small outdoor space.
日本では、大都市では庭が小さい家や、庭のないアパートも多くあります。その一方で、ベランダや小さなスペースで花や植物を育てている人もたくさんいます。
Doors / ドア
Front doors are also a little different.
玄関のドアにも違いがあります。
In France, entrance doors are often thick and heavy. Many homes have several locks, and older apartment buildings may have two entrance doors before reaching the apartment itself.
フランスでは、玄関のドアは厚くて重いものが多く、防犯のために複数の鍵が付いていることもよくあります。また、古いアパートでは、建物の入り口を通ってから各部屋へ入る造りになっていることもあります。
In Japan, front doors are usually lighter and open directly onto the genkan. Most apartments and houses also have an intercom, making it easy to see or speak with visitors before opening the door.
日本では、玄関のドアを開けるとすぐに玄関スペースがあります。また、多くの家やアパートにはインターホンがあり、ドアを開ける前に来客を確認することができます。
Shutters / シャッター
Shutters are very common in France. They help keep homes cool in summer and warm in winter, while also providing extra security.
フランスでは、シャッターが付いている家が多くあります。夏の日差しを防ぎ、冬は暖かさを保つのに役立ちます。
In Japan, they are less common, especially in apartments.
日本では、特にアパートではあまり見かけません。
