両国の休暇の取り方には、意外な違いがあります。

Public Holidays / 祝日
France and Japan both have public holidays, but they are organized differently.
フランスにも日本にも祝日がありますが、その取り方には違いがあります。
France has fewer public holidays than Japan. However, many of them fall on weekdays, and if a public holiday falls on a Tuesday or Thursday, some employees may take an extra day off to enjoy a longer weekend.
フランスは日本より祝日の数が少ないですが、平日に祝日があることも多くあります。火曜日や木曜日が祝日の場合は、間の日を休んで連休にする人もいます。
Japan has more public holidays spread throughout the year. Some of them create long holiday periods, such as Golden Week, when many people travel or spend time with their families.
日本では、一年を通して祝日が多くあります。ゴールデンウィークのような大型連休もあり、多くの人が旅行や家族との時間を楽しみます。
Paid Leave / 有給休暇
French employees usually receive more paid vacation days each year than Japanese employees. Taking two or even three consecutive weeks off is common, especially during the summer.
フランスでは、日本より年間の有給休暇の日数が多く、夏には2〜3週間続けて休暇を取る人も珍しくありません。
In Japan, paid leave is also available. However, many employees prefer taking shorter vacations throughout the year rather than several consecutive weeks.
日本にも有給休暇がありますが、長期間ではなく、短い休みを何回かに分けて取る人が多くいます。
Some also hesitate to take long holidays because they do not want to inconvenience their colleagues.
また、同僚に迷惑をかけたくないという理由から、長い休みを取りにくいと感じる人もいます。
Sick Leave / 病気で休むとき
When French employees are sick, they usually stay home to recover.
フランスでは、体調が悪いときは自宅で休むことが一般的です。
A doctor’s note may be required depending on the situation, and staying home helps prevent spreading illness to others.
場合によっては医師の診断書が必要になることもあり、周りの人にうつさないためにも休むことが大切だと考えられています。
In Japan, some employees still go to work even when they are not feeling well, although attitudes have gradually been changing in recent years.
日本でも少しずつ変わってきていますが、体調が悪くても出勤する人がいることもあります。
