School life in France and Japan (part 2)

———————————————————————————–

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Part 2 of our article about school life in France and Japan!

This time, let’s continue exploring the differences between French and Japanese schools.

Thank you for reading this final post in my series about the differences between France and Japan, which I worked on as part of my internship! ☺️

Cleaning time is a noticeable difference between French and Japanese schools.

In Japan, students often clean their classrooms and other areas of the school themselves.

Cleaning is part of the school day and teaches students to take care of their environment.

In France, schools usually have cleaning staff. Students generally do not clean their classrooms as part of their daily schedule.

Exams and homework /

Exams and homework also play different roles in France and Japan.

In France, students have regular tests during the school year, but there is not one single entrance exam for university.

Students’ grades and their school records are also important when applying to higher education.

In Japan, entrance exams are an important part of education. Many students study for these exams for a long time, and some also attend juku after school.

School Events /

School events are an important part of student life in both France and Japan, but they can be quite different.

In Japan, students take part in events such as sports festivals (taiikusai) and cultural festivals (bunkasai).

Students often prepare performances, food stands, decorations, and other activities together with their classmates.

In France, schools also organize events and activities, such as school trips, theatre performances, and end-of-year celebrations. However, large school events involving the whole school are generally less common.
